J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth)
This group meets four times a year for a luncheon and to visit with one another, also twice a year special trips are planned. This group also hosts the Advent party in December.
Men’s Luncheon Group
This group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month (only 1st Thursday during the summer months) in the Dining Room for lunch, fellowship, and a program. Contact Person: The Rev. Christopher Powell
Episcopal Church Women (E. C. W.)
The E.C.W. includes all women in the church. The St. James’ E.C.W. graciously hosts Parish receptions, two luncheons each year, the Advent Wine and Cheese Party, and helps with many other functions. E.C.W. is also an active participant and contributor on the Diocesan level. E.C.W. Wine & Cheese Party Scheduled for December 3, 2009.
The Saintly Chefs of the Burnt Offering
This is the group that generously gives of its time and talents to prepare and cook for various parish wide events. Contact Persons: Mark Eppes, Bradley Wilson, Mark O’Brien.

St. James’ Crawfish Boil - “Bringing Down the House”
You won’t want to miss this year’s St. James’ Crawfish Boil!! There will be two services, A Crawfish Boil and music by Hunter Gibson following the services with lots of special activities. Watch for details!!! Chairperson: Allene Womack. Crawfish Boil Scheduled for April 19, 2009
Fall Picnic on the Grounds
This is a parish wide gathering to help kick-off the school year. Parishioners bring a covered dish and the Saintly Chefs provide hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. There will be two services, one inside and an outdoor service with music by Hunter Gibson. Shrove Tuesday Celebration
Shrove Tuesday is the day immediately before Ash Wednesday, named for the “shriving” or confessions and absolutions traditionally performed on that day. It is also known as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. St. James’ annually hosts a Shrove Tuesday Celebration in the Parish Hall. The Saintly Chefs of the Burnt Offering serve a traditional Cajun supper. There is music and a childrens parade is led through the Parish Hall. The event concludes with the Burning of the Palms which were saved from the previous Palm Sunday for the next day’s Ash Wednesday services. Many volunteers are needed for this memorable event!
