Music at St. James’

The Choirs of St. James’
From the beginning music has played a significant role in the life of St. James’ Church. Our Choirs provide music not only for weekly worship services throughout the year, but also for special services during Holy Week and Christmas. We welcome new members at any time!

The 8:40 service choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The 11:05 service choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. The Children’s Choir rehearses at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and sings for designated services.

St. James’ Pipe Organ
Designed specifically for St. James’ Church and built by Steiner-Reck, Inc., of Louisville, Kentucky, the new organ contains 2532 individual pipes.  Each pipe is made of a particular combination of tin, lead, zinc, or copper.  One set of pipes, not visible in this picture, is made of wood.  The largest pipes are those in the facade of the casework; the remainder of the pipes are enclosed in wooden chambers directly behind.  The tallest pipe is 16 feet long; many pipes are smaller than a pencil.  This magnificent instrument was made possible by generous contributions from a number of St. James’ parishioners.
