CHILDREN’S FORMATION COMMISSION FORMING IN JANUARY

What is it?
This is the body of parishioners who meet periodically throughout the year to “hold” our children and the nurturing of them at St. James’.  It is through the work of the commission that the many offerings for children occur: Christmas Pageant, Shrove Tuesday Carnival, Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Sundays, Vacation Church School, Outreach for Upper Elementary Children and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Who is invited?
Any parishioner of any age with or without children and with a desire to serve is invited.  If the children of St. James’ and their spiritual and religious formation are important to you, please consider joining us.

Why is this needed?
It is in collaboration with one another that God works through us.  When we plan together often something “new” happens inside of us and in the work we are given to do.

What is required?
Some members commit to the scheduled meetings and attend regularly.  Others commit to a particular task and may or may not attend meetings.  In Children’s Ministries we believe that every person has unique gifts which bring joy both to the holder of the gift and to the Christian community;.  Some have the gift of listening and reflection.  Some have the gift of speaking and action.  Some have the gift of vision.  Others have the gift of follow through.  So many gifts are needed.  All are received with gratitude.

It is our hope that Children’s Formation is a place where we can share our passion for nurturing children and where we and the children may draw closer to God and to each other…….

How can I volunteer?
Please contact Carolyn Ray, Children’s Formation Commissioner at crayms@mac.com or Mary Nell Prichard, Director of Children’s Ministries at mprichard@stjamesjackson.org or at the church office 601.982.4880.
