The Sunday Nursery and
St. James’ School
Our youngest children are welcomed into a safe and rich learning environment which operates on the basic principles of love and respect. We believe that the young child has an inner guilde and strong desire to fulfill his/her potential. Young children have the need to move, to speak, to choose, and to imitate others. Our aim is to create a peaceful community of happy children within a prepared environment and with adults who enjoy serving the child.
Our positive and developmentally appropriate environment will foster the formation of a trusting relationship between the child and the adults who serve the child. An open line of communication and a high respect of the family unit will solidify a trustful, faith-filled relationship to the care giving community.
The St. James’ Nursery
The nursery is available on Sundays for the 8:40 and 11:05 a.m. Eucharists, for the Church School hour, and for all parish wide church services.
The nursery complex houses two adjoining rooms for infants and crawlers, and two adjoining rooms for 2 year olds. Room 108, across the hall from the nursery complex, is open for toddlers during both Eucharists and the Church School hour.
Three and four year old children have the option of attending the e
ntire church service with their parents or attending the Three and Four Year Old Nursery for the Liturgy of the Word. An acolyte leads the children into the church during the announcements. Parents are asked to stand and greet their children.
A silent pager system is available for the parents of infants, toddlers and other children who may be visiting the nursery for the first time or who have special needs. The pagers allow for nursery attendants to contact parents should the need arise.
The St. James’ School
The St. James’ School is a four day a week educational center operating Monday through Thursday for children who are walking through the Pre-Kindergarten Year. This program is a balanced educational system with a focus on following the child and encouraging the exploration of preschool concepts necessary for the success in any elementary educational environment. The school’s environment will promote and support the spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical needs of the young child.
This licensed school will operate using a combination of educational curriculums puposely integrated into the environment to stimulate, educate, and encourage the internal desire to seek new knowledge. The child led environment will foster respect, compassion, and peace. Supporting the child in their growth to their fullest potential has always been and will continue to be the primary focus in our program.
The St. James’ School opens the first week of September and closes late May. Hours of operation are 8:45 a.m. until Noon with Extended Day options on Tuesday and Wednesday until 1:30 p.m. Registration otpions include Two Days per Week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) or Four Days (Monday through Thursday).
