Our “First Sundays at Five” series continues with music of three contemporary British composers: the “Magnificat and Nunc dimittis” written for Truro Cathedral by Gabriel Jackson (b. 1962), the exquisite setting, The Souls of the Righteous,” by Geraint Lewis (b. 1958), and Responses by Humphrey Clucas (b. 1941) written for King’s College, Cambridge. In recital following, our organist-choirmaster, Don Messer, presents “An Organist’s Requiem,” music by J. S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, Louis Vierne, Olivier Messiaen, and Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur–last compositions written by these composers or music assocaiated with the requiem mass.
